Sustainability

Creating a greener future together

At Fygë we are driven by a deep sense of responsibility for our planet and future generations. Sustainability is not a fixed goal but an ongoing journey — one that asks for continuous learning, innovation and collaboration. There is always room for improvement. What we can promise is meaningful action every day to reduce our environmental impact.

This page is our statement, updated as the work moves on — last revised 30 May 2026.

How we're making a difference

Seven commitments we work on continuously — in the kitchen, on the road and in the rooms we serve.

  1. 01 · Packaging

    Eco-friendly by default

Every delivery leaves us in ready-to-serve boxes made from renewable materials — sturdy, functional and biodegradable, so food arrives fresh with as little waste as possible. It's a circular approach we've applied across the whole range, not a premium option.

  2. 02 · Menus

    Shifting towards plant-based

We have chosen to exclude red meat from our menus entirely, recognising the environmental footprint of red meat production. We still respect every client's preferences — and we actively encourage exploring our vegetarian and vegan range, which is diverse, generous and lighter in carbon.

  3. 03 · Food waste

    Waste is a recipe problem

We monitor waste levels closely and adjust portion sizes from real client feedback rather than guesswork. And we like the inventive route too — orange peels dried and milled into a fine powder, waste turned into flavour. To tackle waste before it happens, we take part in the CURATE student incubator programme, developing new prevention ideas with students.

  4. 04 · Sourcing

    Local, seasonal, ethical

We use local and seasonal produce wherever we can, celebrating Finnish flavours as they come — our Finnish rhubarb smoothie was the highlight of spring 2025. Our coffee follows the same standard: we partner with Johan & Nyström, a Nordic roastery built on transparency, fair trade and sustainability.

  5. 05 · Service

    Alternative serving methods

Smoothies in jars, yoghurt in glass bowls, platters on wood — rethinking how food reaches the table so single-use packaging isn't needed at all.

  6. 06 · Logistics

    Smarter deliveries

Route-optimisation software plans every run, cutting fuel and emissions — so orders arrive on time and with a smaller footprint.

  7. 07 · Knowledge

    Global collaboration

We take part in the UN Global Compact Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme, aligning our operations with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

What's next

Our sustainability journey is far from over. We keep looking for new ways to reduce our impact — refining sourcing, exploring new food concepts and sharpening waste-reduction practice.

Transparency matters to us, so we're preparing our first comprehensive Sustainability Report — a deeper look at progress, challenges and goals.

Thank you for choosing Fygë as your partner in sustainable catering. Your support makes this journey possible. — The Fygë team
